1994 was a huge shift for Selena's career, as she and her team began preparation for her English language cross over album, which would be posthumously released after her death in 1995. Up until that point, most of Selena Y Los Dino's songs were written for the group by the group's band members. As Selena's team prepared English songs, Selena began to work with other songwriters to give her sound a more diverse reach.
This song in particular, "I Could Fall In Love" stands out among the songs recorded for 'Dreaming of You'. When I first heard this song, I was just a kid but I was immediately blown away by how beautiful this song and rich the song is. The moment the cassette tape ran through my boom box, I was moved. Every time I hear this song, it overwhelms me realizing just how lucky we are to have this recording. I wanted to highlight Selena's vocals and the gorgeous songwriting in this timeless song.
I recorded the minimal piano arrangement and will eventually add strings, etc, but for now, I hope you enjoy my tribute to Selena with this version of "I Could Fall In Love".
